Discord is an incredibly popular communication service for gamers. Since its inception, the company has branched out to other fields like game subscription services along the lines of Xbox Game Pass. While the selection isn’t filled with AAA blockbusters like its competition, it did include some smaller, intriguing experiences.
According to a report by Neowin, “Discord launched its own games store and overhauled the Nitro subscription service to offer access to a library of games in addition to other chat and server related perks… the library of games Nitro subscribers get access to is getting axed, and its because almost nobody actually played them.”
We were able to confirm that Discord said that no one played the games in its Nitro subscription. Discord added, “We learned a lot from all of you over the last year. Through your valuable feedback, it became clear that while we and some of you love these games, the truth is the vast majority of Nitro subscribers didn’t play them. So, after careful consideration, we won’t be hitting Continue when these contracts come up for renewal.”
The issue appears to be that most of the games were either very old or not that popular. For some odd reason, there were also some free-to-play titles thrown in there. If Discord had offered new AAA titles only a few months later like Xbox Game Pass, it may have been different. If you’re a Nitro subscriber, you definitely want to take note of this.
